Randell Packer

Randell Beck Packer was born April 18th, 1960 in Murray Utah to Arline and Wendell Packer.  He was the youngest of six sons.  He grew up in the Olympus Cove area of the Salt Lake Valley and attended Oakridge Elementary, Churchill Jr High, and Skyline High School.  At Skyline he played football and graduated in the top 3% of his class.
He attended both Brigham Young University and the University of Utah.  He graduated from the University of Utah cum laude with a degree in Medical Biology.  Truth is though he graduated red, he was always true blue.  Go Cougars!
He attended Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska where he was part of the RDEP program.  He graduated in 1988 and upon returning to Utah,  bought a practice in Sandy where he has practiced dentistry for the past 30 years.
He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Paris France from May 1979 to May 1981.  He remained an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for the remainder of his life.
In July 1981, he married Renee Giddings in the Salt Lake Temple and together they had 4 children, Rachell, Rebecca, Benjamin, and Wendy.  He was the proud grandfather (pocus) of Emma and Brooke. He was grateful for his two sons-in-law Josh and Brady.  He loves his family.
Randell passed peacefully away on August 7th, 2019, surrounded by many of us who love him.  He was 59 years old.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Wayne, Alan, and Stan, his mother-in-law Bonnie Giddings, and sister-in-law Karen.  He is having an amazing reunion on the other side of the veil right now!
He is survived by his wife Renee, children Rachell (Josh) Portiss, Rebecca Packer, Benjamin Packer, Wendy (Brady) Knudsen, granddaughters Emma and Brooke, brothers, Steve (Linda) Packer and  Rod (Robyn) Packer, Father-in-law, Luther Giddings, sisters-in-law Carolyn Packer, Anna Packer, Lisa Jensen, and Dara Giddings, brothers-in-law Luther (Kit) Giddings, Bart (Susan) Giddings, Shane (Wendy) Giddings.  He has many loving nephews and nieces. We will all miss him immensely.

A Family and Friend Gathering will be held Tuesday, August 13th from 9 to 11 am.  Randy’s funeral will be held at 11:30 am immediately following at the Sandy Canyon View Stake Center. 9119 S 1300 E, Sandy UT.
