Randall Wangerin

June 9, 1970 — June 13, 2020

Our dear “Rand” has recently gone on before us to begin his next big adventure. Randall (Rand) Shayne Wangerin left this world a few days after his 50th birthday, on Saturday, June 13th, 2020, while living in St. George, Utah. Rand was born on June 9th, 1970, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Roger and Shirley Wangerin, and was the youngest of five children.
Rand built his career following in the footsteps of his mom in the medical field. Over the past more than 25 years, he worked as a professional Registered Polysomnographic Technician (RPSGT), working in sleep clinics, including at the University of Utah Medical Center, and at the UCLA Medical Center. Rand had also worked previously as a licensed Massage Therapist, certified Medical Assistant, and as a Medical Office Manager.
Rand loved the outdoors, especially the mountains and the ocean. He was an active water sports enthusiast and hiker. Rand also loved Theatre and was very talented in stage design and lighting technologies, winning several awards while attending Dixie College. Also, over the years, Rand completed a number of impressive landscape design and home remodeling projects. His work always reflected his natural quest for detail and perfection.
Rand is survived by his father, Roger Wangerin; his sister, Sandra (Floyd) Holm; and his brothers Steven (June) Wangerin and Robert (Debra) Wangerin; as well as his aunt Afton Andrews and uncle Doug Andrews, and his aunt Diane Sorensen and uncle Jerry Sorensen; his nieces Stephanie Holm, Rebecca Holm, Angelica (James) Black, and Natalie (Sam) Humphries; his nephews Andrew Holm, Nathan (Amanda) Holm, Brandon (Melissa) Frantz, Bryan (Lynn) Wangerin, and Ryan (Michelle) Wangerin; and 13 grand nieces and nephews.
Our dearly loved Rand was preceded in death by his mother Shirley Wangerin; his brother Richard Wangerin; along with his uncle Stuart Sorensen and aunt Donna Sorensen; his nephew Bradley Frantz; his grandniece Teresa Frantz; and his grandparents Louise and Ben Childs, Howard and Della Sorensen, Bernice and Glen Talbott, and Walter Wangerin.
A public viewing for relatives, friends, and co-workers, will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, from 11:00AM until 1:00PM, at the Memorial Mountain View Mortuary and Cemetery at 3115 East 7800 South, Salt Lake City, Utah.
Interment will be at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary and Cemetery.
