Randall Hobbs

July 14, 1953 — February 14, 2015

Our beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend Randall Dean Hobbs passed away on February 14th 2015 at his home in Sandy, Utah. Randy was born July 14, 1953 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Violet May McGrew and William Galloway Hobbs. Randy attended Olympus and Murray High where he was a member of the wrestling team, which he loved. He invested over 25 years of experience, many of which with the Jordan School District, to the Telecommunications field as a successful phone technician. Randy married Linda Mandet (later divorced), they had three children Jason, Travis and Sarah. They were the greatest joy in his life and he was so proud of them and their accomplishments. He especially loved watching sports and eating out at the Italian Village with them. He was an avid and loyal fan of the Green Bay Packers and University of Utah football teams, and never missed a game. Randy had many siblings and relatives who lived nearby with whom he spent a great deal of time. He enjoyed participating in a local bowling league with his sister Pat and brother-in-law Jake, and could be found rolling strikes every Friday night for as long as his family can remember. He was well known for his kind heart and quick witted, yet, corny sense of humor. His many jokes and stories will keep us all smiling for years to come. He was preceded in death by his father William Hobbs, stepfather Alan Knapp, and sister Connie Pace. He is survived by his children Jason Hobbs, Travis (Alyson) Hobbs, Sarah Hobbs; mother Violet Knapp; stepmother Eddie Hobbs; brother Bill Hobbs; sisters Jayne Lancaster (Steve), Pat Jacobsen (Jake), Christy Youngman (Chris), Kathy Clayton, Carol Hobbs Sinju (Gilbert), Fawn Shafer (Brent), and many other close relatives. Friends and family are invited to gather at Redwood Memorial Mortuary & Cemetery Thursday, February 19th, 2015 at 6500 S. Redwood Rd, Salt Lake City, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:30-11:00 am. A celebration of life and sharing of memories will take place between 11:00-12:00. A graveside service at the same location will follow, thereafter. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.redwoodmortuary.com. Memorial contributions may be made at Cyprus Credit Union under Randy Hobbs. He will be greatly missed.
