“Dad, Pops, Opa”
Ralph A. Gisseman passed away peacefully on 2/2/17, surrounded by his loving family. Born 4/19/32 in SLC to Van and Enid (Trumbo) Gisseman. He attended West High School and the University of Utah. He married Edith Schruhl in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on 1/20/60. He held many church callings and in each calling he had, he served 110%. He loved his family, gardening, traveling, boating and eating ice cream. As a young man, he served a mission in Germany and after his return he was drafted into the army and returned to Germany where he met the love of his life. He later returned to Germany to serve a mission together with his wife in the Germany Leipzig mission. He is survived by his wife, Edith Gisseman, and five children: Susan, Angela (Russell) Whitney, David (Holli) Gisseman, Mark (Stephanie) Gisseman, Daren (Julie) Gisseman; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers: Milton and Roger Gisseman; and his faithful canine companion to the end, Edna. Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gordon Ray Gisseman. Funeral services will be Tues, 2/7/17, at 11:00 am at the 32nd Ward LDS chapel, 1401 W 700 S. Viewing will be held Mon, 2/6/17 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Deseret Mortuary, 36 E 700 S, and prior to services on Tues from 10:00 -10:45 am at the church.
