Rachelle Brooke Betsuie, age 48, passed away on April 18, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah following a long battle with breast cancer. She was born on January 19, 1977, to Margaretha Margriet Dykhuizen Johnson and Kee Yazzie Johnson.
She married the love of her life, Navin Chester Betsuie on September 20, 1997.
Rachelle was a talented artist and loved to make a variety of handicrafts. She would sew clothing, blankets, and dresses, and crochet gifts like blankets, stuffed animals, baby booties, and outfits. She loved to help her kids do their school projects so she could help decorate them. She would always have some sort of craft project going, and sometimes forgot to finish one before she started another.
Rachelle was a very independent person. She would teach herself how to do things so she didn't have to wait around for people to help her. She learned how to cut hair, restore furniture, and make simple jewelry and diamond art. She didn't attend college but she loved learning and was able to complete some courses through BYU- Pathways.
She worked at a variety of places, the longest being at Granite Credit Union. The 2nd longest was for Granite School District at Upland Terrace Elementary as a lunch lady. Most recently she worked at Hunter High school as a tracker.
Rachelle was a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a woman of God. She taught her children that they should always put their faith in God no matter what goes on in their lives. She served in many positions, the longest being a Young Woman's counselor. She served as a Relief Society President, Primary worker, and as a temple worker at the Taylorsville temple. Her unwavering faith in our Savior, in spite of all her trials, was an inspiration to all who knew her.
She was very selfless and always put others’ needs before her own. She had a deep love for her children and would make sure they were always put first by taking them to do fun activities and to their extra-curricular activities. Even though she had many health challenges in her life, she didn't let them stop her from serving others or the Lord. She had a kind heart for everyone including animals. She would frequently rescue injured or abandoned animals including doves, chickens, quails, frogs, cats, and dogs.
Rachelle is survived by her husband Navin Chester Betsuie; her daughters Kaya Margiet Betsuie, O'rya Shunaba Eagletail Betsuie; her sons, Jairus Maruis Betsuie, Coleburn Eagletail Betsuie; her father, Kee Yazzie Johnson; brothers, Kee Tabhahie Johnson, Edwin Yazzie Johnson, and Clay Boy Tachinee Johnson.
