Quata M. Mears

1932 – 2016

Quata Mears, mother, grandmother and friend, left this life on March 21st 2016.  She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on November 3rd 1932 to Wallace M. Baird and Annie B. Simons, both deceased.  Mom married Gilbert L. Gaydon in 1955, he preceded her in death in 1986  They had six children Steven (Sandy) Gaydon, Marlene (Wayne) Chandler, Colette Guffey, LeAnn Jones, Tonya Anderson and Carolyn (Gregg) Rosann.  Mom married Marvin Mears in 1987, he preceded her in death just several months ago.  Marvin had five children, who mom loved as her own; Rick (Robyn) Randy (Nita) Ronald (preceded in death 2008) Cheryl (Ken) Adamson and Rory (Cory) Mears.  Mom was also loved by her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mom was a strong, creative woman who worked hard and spoke her mind.  She graduated from Alta High School at the age of 54  She was proud of this accomplishment as well as her job in quality control at Becton Dickinson Medical.  More than anything; mom loved her family.  We will all miss being woken up on our birthdays with a phone call and a very enthusiastic Happy Birthday song of her own making.
We would like to extend special thanks for the excellent care provided by Community Nursing Services staff, especially mom’s nurse, Wendy and volunteer, Gail.  Never forget what a difference you make in the world!
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 25th at 2:00 at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South. Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.  A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
