Phyllis Carson Finlayson peacefully passed away on October 5th, 2015 in West Jordan, Utah. She was born December 12th, 1928 in Burley, Idaho to George Walter Carson and Pearl Leora Christopherson. She came to Utah to attend the LDS business college. She met Max Finlayson, fell in love and married him on February 1st, 1951 in West Jordan, Utah, and then eternally sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on May 12, 1964.
Phyllis enjoyed life and retained many interests during her life; she was a talented seamstress, a remarkable cook, and helped run their successful family business. One of her biggest accomplishments was being a seven-year breast cancer survivor. She loved being with her family and truly cherished each moment she had with them.
Phyllis loved the Lord, and this love was on display her entire life, as she remained active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She faithfully served Him in many ways and in various capacities, including service in the Relief Society and Missionary Program. Her favorites, though, were taking care of the Primary children and going Visiting Teaching for over twenty years with her best friend JoAnn Winward. This devotion was also evident through her unconditional and unwavering love she showed those around her; she was always there for those who needed her.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Tom and daughter-in-law Nita. She is survived by her sons: Lairn (Jaylene), Neal; her grandchildren: Katie (Trent), Nick, Kim (Kevin), Matt, Nate (Laurel), Tami (Jeff), Skyler (April), Jason, Shanna, Dustin (Stacey); and her 20 great grandchildren, with one on the way. We love you mom, grandma, and great grandma.
