Phillip Reed Carlson

September 5, 1953 — January 21, 2017

Our loving dad, grandpa, brother, and friend passed away unexpectedly on January 21st, 2017 from respiratory issues. Phil was born September 5th, 1953 to Glenn Harten and Faye Maxine Carlson in Preston, ID as the fourth of five children.
Phil graduated from Preston High School and got his degree in auto body repair and auto body paint from Utah Technical College. He owned and operated his own auto body shop for several years.
One of his passions in life was cars and he spent most of his life working with them, including repairing, doing auto body work and painting or going to the drag races. He had multiple cars get showcased at auto expos and he rarely missed the big semi-annual drag racing event in Las Vegas. His other passions included fishing, camping, and dutch oven cooking. Unknown to most, he was also a very talented artist specializing in drawings. His grandchildren were his greatest treasure and he loved every moment he spent with them.
He is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his children Dustin Carlson (Sarah), Heather Sirrine (Chad), Dana Carlson (Andrea), former wife Tammie Hooper, and his nine wonderful grandchildren. He is also survived by his four siblings Dennis, Cherie, Gary, and Beverly.
Phil will be honored at memorial services on Friday, January 27th at 11 am. There will also be a visitation held on Thursday, January 26th from 6-8pm and again at 10 am on Friday, January 27th. All services will be held at Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery, 6500 S Redwood Rd, West Jordan, UT.
