Phillip P. May

April 28, 1936 — October 4, 2020

It’s been a long wild ride for this wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather, Uncle and Friend.  Phillip P. May finally used up his 999 lives and left his journey here on earth on the eve of October 4, 2020 with his loving wife Lisa and daughter Lynnette by his side. He passed from this life at home after a fall that his body just couldn’t take. Born 1936 to Orritt Paul and LaVina May in Lamar, Colorado.
Phil was the 3rd of 4 boys and was known to take care of his youngest brother Vic when he was getting picked on. He was always there to stand up and support him.  He excelled in track and received numerous ribbons for being fast on his feet, and that speed and swiftness continued through his life.  We believe that is what kept him so young and strong, smart and sassy.  At a very young age he worked at various jobs to help his struggling family.  He lived in Colorado and then moved to Utah.
Phil had a great sense of humor and even in the worst of times he always seemed to find that bit of humor and wit to make us laugh, leaving goofy messages to his grandchildren and family.  Sometimes the grandkids didn’t answer the phone just so they could get a recorded message from grandpa.  Phil struggled and overcame many trials in his life, and he knew he was far from perfect in his earlier years but he worked hard trying to amend any wrongs where possible. He lived his life his way, with love for those around him. He always said I forgive those who don’t forgive me.  What a great man he was.   He Loved his grandchildren and appreciated those that were there by his side.  He thoroughly enjoyed their visits and was a master at teasing and scaring them.  He Loved his little Dez who he treated just like she was one of his own.  The relationship with his daughter Lynnette was so special and they both had a richer life because of their ability to love and forgive.  She was there for him through all his trials. He loved family.  He looked forward to gatherings with his wife’s family who loved him like a son and brother.  He enjoyed collecting things from by-gone eras.  Anything old & rusty, quaint and unique and anything with a western theme and a character, just like him.  It was almost impossible to take a picture of him without his tongue sticking out or his eyes crossed.
He was grateful to his wonderful wife of 37 years who was always there to share the joy and pain that comes with living a full life in the fast lane life.  They loved camping, fishing, motorcycle rides, and trips to Wendover until his health declined. They were constant companions and each felt they had the best life and the best partner.  Life was anything but dull in their adventures together.
Lisa was ingenious at inventing systems and devices that made day to day life easier and better as she helped him navigate the changes he faced.  He thanked her for her compassionate care.  A void is truly left in her heart, but she knows this is temporary and they will be together once again.
Survived by his wife Lisa; Brothers-Vic and Stan; Children-Lynnette, Margo, Lamont, Bernita, Jaysen; 21 Grandchildren, 37 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his Parents; his Brother Dane; Daughters, Debra Jean and Tamara Dalene.
Thanks to Symbii Home Health and Hospice whose compassion and care were greatly appreciated. Special thanks to Shelly and Jodi.
