…It is what it is…
Phillip Kirk Allen, age 71, left this Earth on October 15, 2017, in Oakley, UT. He was born on August 15, 1946, in Orangeville, UT, to George Lynn Allen and Emily Lucille Giesdorf. He married Gail Jean Lange on March 20, 1965.
The Man, the Myth, the Legend. Master of all trades and a real Mr. Fix it, he was an accomplished outdoorsman. He loved camping, fishing, hunting, riding ATVs, horseback riding and rock hounding. He captured many trophies including bighorn sheep, cougar, bear, caribou and countless others. A master craftsman, engineer and artist, the man could build anything… no really… he could–swing sets included. He was a mentor, hero and friend to many. He could play music by ear, including tunes on the guitar, banjo and piano. He had a great singing voice. We fondly remember him singing Marty Robbins songs. He was kind-hearted and comforting, giving the best hugs in town. Our dad was always happy to see you unless he was seeing you in a crowd. He was as stubborn as they come and strong! We mean seriously. Our dad could beat up your dad, and let’s face it, he probably did. He had a wild side, but he encouraged us to do and become whatever we desired. He was full of praise for his children and especially proud of his grandchildren. He was a little vain. I’m sure we’ve all heard him exclaim,” I’m so pretty. Oh, so pretty.” and “Each morning, I can’t wait to look in the mirror because I get better looking each day.”
Kirk is survived by his wife, Gail, and his children, Denice (Mike), Laura (Sam), Eleen (Wayne), Lynn (Louis), Brian (Cindy) and Justin (Amber). He is also survived by his grandchildren Zach (Tilly), Dillon (Becca), Nick (Jenna), Stephanie, Mike (Alexandra), Kenny (Aunistee), Courtney (Chad), Dillon (Whitney), Cassie, T.J., Kolten, Sarah, Kory, Cody (Shandee), Brittney (Shawn), Ethan, Abby and Gray. Kirk is preceded in death by his grandson Elliott Clay Cendagorta. Great Grandchildren Owyn, Preston, Jacoby, Kaleb, Chase, Connor and Bria (Born10/15/2017).
Kirk was a decorated army veteran, being awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter(rifle), Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze service stars and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He received the ranking of specialist E-4.
Services will not be held due to our dad’s request.
