Peseta Tofa Salua Raeli Masina, age 84, returned home to our loving Heavenly Father on February 20, 2023, in Tooele Utah. He was born in Salua Manono, Western Samoa to Venu Masina & Luafa Raeli on March 21, 1938. He came to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1976 and worked at Bountiful Rest Mattress until 2003 when he retired at 65. He married his eternal companion Tausoa Aiono on April 3, 1979, in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Dad loved the gospel and shared his testimony with others in his various church callings. In the late ’90s and early 2000s, he was called to serve as the Second and then First Counselor in the bishopric for Sauniatu Samoan Ward in Kearns, Utah. He was also a teacher in the High Priest Quorum and in Sunday School. He loved his Sauniatu Ward and singing in their choir. He also served as a Ward Missionary with his eternal companion. Temple work and genealogy were vital to Dad. He did his best to ensure the work was done for many of our family members on the other side of the veil.
Dad also deeply loved his family, especially his grandchildren. Many pictures we have of Dad, he’s holding and playing with the babies. Dad was a hardworking, humble provider to our family and a loving husband to our mother. But most importantly, he brought the priesthood into our home and all the blessings we needed for our family.
Alofa tele ia te oe, Dad. Manuia lou malaga. Until we meet again.
Dad is survived by his beautiful wife and eternal companion Tausoa Aiono Masina.
Brothers: Viliamu (Julie) Masina & Venu (Franzella) Masina
Children: Uaea (Heather), Niusina (Kolani), Venu, Lionetta, Rolene (Jawara), Phillip (Priscilla), and Henry (Jenise).
24 Grandchildren: Loi Masina, Uaea Masina, Osa Masina, Salua Masina, Ernest Slade, Agnes Slade, Naumati Jung, Brittany Slade, KJ Slade, Oscar Pouoa, Grace Pouoa, Naumati Pouoa, Christian Pouoa, Gavin Leatuolo Masina, Emmanuel Masina, Kapui Masina, Kiari Masina, Phillip Masina Jr, Lionetta Oaklee Masina, Riece Masina, Henry Masina Jr, Etisone Masina, Villiamu Masina, and Rhaev Masina
5 Great-Grandchildren: Daymien Slade, Zayden Slade, Tara Slade, Maya Slade, and Nova Masina.
Dad is preceded in death by his parents, sister Saratoto, son Viliamu Masina, daughter Saratoto Pouoa and many loved ones over the years.
Services will be held at Sauniatu Samoan Ward, 4950 South 1950 W, Taylorsville UT 84129
