Penisimani Takuvaka

Penisimani Takuvaka passed away on February 8, 2021, in the comfort of his home surrounded by family.  He was born on April 10, 1949, in Mapelu Liahona, Tongatapu, Tonga, to Sione Vaioleti Takuvaka and ‘Ana Tu’ipulotu.  He married Mele Talanoa Fonua in the Salt Lake Temple on July 10, 1976.
Penisimani graduated from Liahona High School in 1969.  He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Nuku’alofa, Tongatapu, Tonga Mission from December 1969 to December 1971.  He worked as a plumber at Liahona High School after his mission.  He came to the United States of America on December 25, 1973.  He attended Utah Technical College – Welding and graduated spring of 1976 with an associate’s degree.  He worked for the Steel Company from 1976 to 1983 and worked for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 28 years.
He retired at 65 years old and served in the Salt Lake City, Family History Mission with his wife.  The rest of his life he served as a temple worker at the Salt Lake City Temple until its closure.
Penisimani is survived by Mele Talanoa Fonua (wife), Ana Vaioleti (daughter) and Malai Latu (son-in-law), P. Lakei Takuvaka (son), Lute Takuvaka (daughter), Katalina Takuvaka (daughter), Kalesita Fonua (daughter) and Sione ‘Unga (son-in-law), Ofa Edna (daughter) and Nolo Bloomfield (son-in-law), three sisters ‘Ofa Kilotolua, ‘Aselika Takuvaka, and ‘Ofa ‘Etina, and grandchildren Loviana, Sani, Miniola, Mele, Siosifa, Ruby, and Latilala.
He is preceded in death by Mom, Dad, and seven siblings:  ‘Ana Fakaata, Sisifa, Suliana, Loseana, Finau Heuifanga, Sialetafa, and Sione (Toilolo) Takuvaka.
