Pauline “Polly” Lawrence Sherwin, 82, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017 in West Jordan, UT. She was born on May 16, 1935 to Paul Lawrence and Eva Reiter.
Polly was small in stature but lived a life of strength, courage, and compassion. As a youth she dedicated much of her life to caring for her five younger siblings. She had an adventurous spirit and spent several years in both India and Romania working for the United States Information Agency. In Romania, she met John Sherwin whom she married in 1971 and later divorced. Polly received secretarial training at LDS Business College and worked for the Jordan School District for many years. She served two missions for the LDS Church and served in the temple for many years. Polly loved to travel, sing, watch sports, care for her children and grandchildren, laugh with her sisters, and always put others needs before her own.
She is survived by her children, John (Cortney) Sherwin, Jennifer (Bruce) James; grandchildren Braxton , Sarah, and Emily Sherwin and Spencer, Matthew, and Emmarsyn James; sisters Argene Mills and Beverlee Williams; brother Alan Hall; and many nieces, nephews; relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents who played an important role in her early childhood, her parents, and her beloved sisters Therese McDaniel and LaVerne Madsen.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 30 at 2pm in the chapel at Mountain View Memorial Cemetery, 3115 E. 7800 S. in Cottonwood Heights. A viewing will be held beginning at 1pm at the same location and internment will commence immediately following the service.
