Paul Willes

After a life full of love and service Paul Stephen Willes passed away peacefully Sunday surrounded by his family at the age of 90. Paul was born June 14, 1924 in Lehi, Utah, to Stephen Arthur Willes and Florence Adeline Smith. Paul loved education and learning from an early age and graduated from Lehi High School in 1942. After graduating Paul served honorably as a member of the United States Air force. He later served an honorable full time Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Great North Western States Mission. After his mission Paul continued his education at Brigham Young University and the University of Utah where he received his Doctorate Degree.
During school he met and fell in love with Marion Ballantyne, who he was sealed to for time and all eternity on June 9th, 1953. Paul quickly found a career path that brought out the best in him and allowed him to bring out the best in others. He retired from Southern Oregon State College after a long and rewarding career in education. He dedicated himself to 50+ years of impacting future generations through education, including stints as principle in Alpine School District. Just as faithfully as he served in his career, he served faithfully in many capacities as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Paul is survived by his wife Marion and his children, Warren Paul (Margaret) Willes; Susan (Robert) McQuoid; Richard (Geri) Willes; Clark (Aileen) Willes; Linda (James. L. – deceased) Henrie; Brad (Dartha) Willes; Stephanie (Tracy) Brown. Paul and Marion are blessed with 25 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and other siblings: A. Douglas; Echo; Bell; Cassel; Helen; and Dean.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 28th at 11:00 a.m. at the Country Park 4th Ward Building, 11251 South 2700 West, South Jordan, UT. Viewing services will be held Friday March 27th, @ 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the same location as the funeral. Interment: Lehi Memorial Cemetery.
