Paul James Pehrson, 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Alpine, Utah surrounded by loved ones on December 11, 2013.
He was born and raised in Millville, Utah on April 9, 1922 to Aaron and Katie Pehrson. He graduated from South Cache High School in Hyrum, Utah where he actively participated in Football and other sports. He graduated in 1948 with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and went on to receive his Masters Degree in Engineering from Utah State University. He served his country during WWII in the European Theatre until the end of the war.
He married Gwen Olsen on March 19, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple, in Logan Utah. He was an Active Member of the LDS church where he was a Temple ordinance worker and served in many callings throughout his life.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, going fishing, camping, gardening, canning fruits and veggies (especially pickles), and playing solitaire. Dad always had a joke to share, and was always happy to be with his friends and family.
In his professional life he worked on the USBR Columbia Basin Irrigation Project for 30 years as the Lead Drainage Engineering manager. He was an international Drainage Consultant in Brazil and finished his career with the USBR. He was a member of Kiwanis and served on many community committees. He actively donated to the American Red Cross, receiving his 30 gallon pin for blood donation.
He is survived by his wife Gwen Pehrson, daughter LaRee Heer and husband Rick of Ephrata, Washington, and son Dean and Lori Pehrson of Peoria, Arizona, 6 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers George, Lund, and Karl, Pehrson, sister Elsie Jensen, and one grandson Jared Pehrson.
A Viewing will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2013, from 6-8 pm at Murray Memorial Mortuary, 5850 S. 900 E. in Murray Utah. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon in the Millville Cemetery on Monday, December 16, 2013. Friends may leave condolences by going to www.MurrayMemorial.com
