It is with an overwhelming heartache that we announce the passing of Paul Anthony Griego, on February 5, 2025, in Murray Utah from a long battle of Guillain-Barré Syndrome.
He was surrounded and visited throughout the night by his five generations of family members and the love of his life.
Paul was born on July 20, 1939, in Llano, NM, to Claudia (Martinez) Griego.
Paul married the love of his life, Elaine (Lopez) Griego on February 27, 1960, in Bingham, Utah.
Paul had a full life of adventures in mischief, fun and travel, with a love for fishing, hunting, bowling and playing golf, in which he received recognition for 2 Hole-in-One’s.
Paul is survived by his wife Elaine (Lopez) Griego; son, David Griego (Marlena); daughter JaNea Griego (Louie Lopez, John Hill). 6 Grandchildren: Melanie (Griego) Butterfield (Jake); Louise Jade Lopez; Jamie (Griego) Gallagher (Justin Higgins and Glen Gallagher); Chase Felton; Conor Felton; and J.Alec Hill. 8 Great Grandchildren: Mason and Jaxon Butterfield; Sage and Avery Higgins; Cooper, Payton, Blake and Anes Gallagher. 1 Great Grandchild: Jahmari Higgins Martin.
Paul is proceeded in death by his mother Claudia Griego; brothers Florencio and Cloro Griego; sisters Rosiba (Griego) Sanchez, Elsia (Griego) Martinez, Sadie Griego and Percilla (Griego) Cisneros.
Paul was retired from Kennecott Copper after 28 years as a diesel mechanic then moved onto Jordan School District for 14 years as Campus Security and later Bus Mechanic.
Paul received an associate's degree in accounting from Salt Lake Community College and studied in refrigeration and marketing.
Paul enlisted and served in the 1st Marine Division, Co H, 2nd BN, 7th Marine on August 31, 1956, and stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA; Honorably discharged on August 30, 1958.
Paul had a great gift for making everyone he met feel seen and loved, his love and kindness was unwavering, always heartfelt and genuine. His continuous smile infectious.
As requested by Paul, a Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Memorial Redwood, mortuary and cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Rd., West Jordan, Utah 84123.
A catholic mass will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 10:30am, St. Vincent de Paul, 1375 E. Springs Lane, Holladay, UT 84117.
Following the Catholic mass, we will drive to Memorial Estates Redwood, 6500 South Redwood Rd., West Jordan, Utah 84123, to place Paul into his site of rest and Military Honors: followed by a luncheon from 1pm - 3pm.
Paul’s warmth and kindness will live on through the hearts and memories of those that knew him and the many lives he touched.
