Patsy Jean Eason Hardy

August 26, 1931 — September 17, 2020

Our sweet Mom, Patsy Hardy, left this life to continue her eternal existence on September 17th, 2020. She was a loving wife and partner, and a wonderful mother.
Pat Hardy was born on August 26,1931 in Beaumont, Texas, where her father was working in the oil fields. She was raised in a small town called Many, in West Central Louisiana. Her family, including several aunts, uncles, and cousins, were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was the only member of the church at Many High School. After graduation, Pat attended Northwestern College in Natchitoches (na-ke-tesh), Louisiana, where she studied Literature and Library Science.
It was at Northwestern that she met William Mack Hardy through friends and family. He was in the Air Force in Macon, Georgia, and after volunteering to be the new company clerk, he was sent to Northwestern College to learn typing and office skills.  Pat and Bill were married in the St. George Temple in St. George, Utah, as most of his family was from Washington County. After Bill’s Air Force service was completed, they moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, where Bill attended Loyola University. Pat worked to help support Bill’s studies until their first child, Alyson, was born in March of 1958. Three months later, in June, Pat and Bill moved to Fort Worth, Texas and Bill completed his internship at the state prison.
Finally, after Bill’s educational responsibilities were complete, Pat and Bill moved to Salt Lake City where their second daughter, Cindy, was born in January of 1960. Though the family lived in several areas of the Salt Lake valley and Bountiful, Bill’s dental offices in Glendale and Rose Park kept the family tied to friends from the Rose Park North Stake and the Fifth Ward.
Pat continued to be active in the Church, and fulfilled several callings in the Primary, Relief Society and as Librarian. She was always deeply involved in the Road Show program, where she supervised the stage makeups in her ward and others.
After Bill passed in 2017, Pat sold her home and moved to The Charleston, an assisted living center in Cedar Hills, Utah County. She made many friends among both residents and staff members. Pat was loved by many there, and never met a stranger. There Pat applied her Library degree to reorganize The Charleston’s tiny library, an effort welcomed by the facility management and her fellow residents. She loved it, even though it often tired her. It was her last job.
In her final days, Pat received tender and loving care by the CNAs and nurses at The Charleston. They hated to see her in pain and helped her to be as comfortable as possible. Her family is incredibly grateful to all those who cared for her as she finished her earthly life.
Pat Hardy passed on to meet to her sweetheart, Bill, her parents Ruby Dale Wagley and William E. Eason, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins early on Thursday, September 17, 2020. She is survived by her daughters, Alyson Covington and Cindy Drees (Dale); grandchildren Paige Covington, Adam Covington (Clari), Dustin Drees (Kari), Hannah Drees, and Emma Drees; and six great-grandchildren, Chantry Covington, Raylee Covington, Raina Ellingford, Clara Covington, Blair Drees and Clark Covington, who was born only four days earlier.
