Patsy Jane Peterson De Waal

May 24, 1935 — May 13, 2021

Our Angel mother, Patsy Jane Peterson de Waal, passed away May 13, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.
She fought a courageous and valiant battle with cancer for two years before joining her eternal companion, Stan, who preceded her in death just five weeks earlier.
Patsy was born on May 24, 1935, to Clarence Eugene Peterson and Norma Afton Peterson, in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she attended school and spent a happy childhood with her two brothers, Lauren and Mike.
She married her husband of 64 years, Stanley Remmelt de Waal, on November 30, 1956 in the Salt Lake Temple. They raised their 5 children together.
Patsy was an active, lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She faithfully served in many callings throughout her life including primary and young women’s president. She was a dedicated visiting and ministering sister and especially loved her latest calling serving in compassionate service.
Patsy served alongside her husband in the LDS Recovery Service Mission, and in the Laie, Hawaii Mission, serving in the Laie Temple Visitors Center.
Patsy loved traveling with family and friends, reading good books, watching British TV, bowling, yard work, cooking, and keeping a beautiful and immaculate home.
Patsy’s greatest love was her husband and family whom she daily served and sacrificed for. Her home had an open-door policy and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren loved to be there. Her family loves and adores her beyond words.
Patsy is survived by her 5 children Karen (Rick) Cunningham, Lori (Clark) Barton, Tracy (Kelly) Denney, Chris de Waal, Susan Walker, 1 brother-in-law Archie (Jenny) de Waal, 17 grandkids, 18 great-grandkids with 1 on the way, 1 sister-in-law Diane Peterson, and many extended family members.
Patsy is preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 brothers, 1 brother-in-law, and 2 sisters-in-law.
