Patricia Simpson

Patricia Nan Hewlett Simpson, age 74, peacefully passed away at home in Humble, Texas, on Sunday, August 7, 2016. Pat was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Leo E. Hewlett and Afton Lorraine (Holmes) Hewlett on August 26, 1941. Her life was marked by kindness and giving as she influenced everyone she knew for good. Pat lived throughout Utah for much of her life and lived in Texas with her husband and near her daughter for the past eleven years. She graduated from East High in Salt Lake in 1959. She married Jack Shay in 1960 and later divorced. Pat married her eternal companion Richard “Dick” Joseph Simpson, September 22, 1973. She joined him in raising his children Lisa and Richard. They had one daughter together, Dixie Jo. Pat worked for Utah Power & Light for 22 years. She served two service missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one in San Antonio, Texas, and the other in Houston, Texas. Left to honor Pat are: her loving and devoted husband, Dick; daughter Dixie Jo Simpson Dunn, son-in-law Alec, grandsons: Noble, William, Hewlett and Joseph Dunn; daughter by marriage Lisa Simpson, grandsons: Jeremy Luna (Vanessa), Tony Luna (Amanda), Ryan Simpson (Amanda), and Destin Simpson (Bodhi); son by marriage Richard D. Simpson; great grandchldren Corbin, Kegan, Dylan, Cannon, Shelby, Haley, Westin, Colter; nephews Steven (Joyce), Scott (Carolyn), Stanley (Sally) Isherwood, niece Shawnie Zahniser; and many wonderful friends and “adopted” family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Afton Hewlett; her sister, Lorraine Isherwood; and son-in-law Ray Carter. Pat will be remembered by others for her laugh, sense of humor, kindness and charity.
Pat will be laid to rest in Salt Lake City, Utah. Viewing and funeral will be held August 12, 2016, at the L.D.S. church at 2301 Bengal Blvd. Cottonwood Heights, UT. Public viewing 10am-Noon. Funeral begins at 12:30. An open house Life Celebration honoring Pat will be held at the L.D.S. church at 12521 Will Clayton Pkwy, Humble, TX August 19, 2016, 7-9pm.
The family requests that flowers in Utah be delivered to Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 S. Redwood Rd. SLC, UT, and that flowers in Texas be delivered to the Dunn residence, 15607 Summer Heath Ct. Houston TX 77044, for the life celebration.
