Patricia Whitmore Olsen
October 18, 1930 – January 28, 2016
Patricia Whitmore Olsen, age 85, passed away on Jan. 28, 2016, in her home surrounded by family. She was born on Oct. 18, 1930, in Salt Lake City, UT to Rich and Vivian Whitmore. Patricia as a little girl grew up in the Wasatch Resort area in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Her family owned Whitmore Oxygen Co. and Whitmore Arabian Horses. It was a ranch to raise Arabian Show Horses. As a young girl she attended St. Mary’s for elementary and Middle School. As a teenager she attended Jorden High School. After graduation she attended the University of Utah and graduated from Steven’s College for Women in Columbia, MO. She married her High School Sweetheart, Harold Demont Olsen on June 24, 1951. Starting in the early 1970’s when summer time came for 40 plus years it was spent on their Ranch in Albert, Canada in view of the Shining Bank Lake.
Patricia loved to cook and celebrate Holiday’s with her family and grandkid’s using her fine china. She enjoyed bowling with her league for 25 years. Always looking forward to her “Happy Hour” which was her water aerobics with wonderful friends at the Sports Mall. She loved all animals’ great and small, nature and enjoyed reading a good book. She was an accomplished knitter, pianist and playing favorite tunes on her organ.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Olsen, and her children Knox, Ogden and Jan. Her grandkids Kara and Morgan Olsen, Stephanie Sledge, Brett Foust and her Standard Poodle Tebo.
We want to respect her final request and pass on a funeral, instead in her honor reflect on her simple kindness of serving others enjoying a meal together or sipping on a cup of coffee. Keep smiling with her sensational unique humor, her talents, knowledge and wisdom and always taking the high road with laughter!!! People were drawn to her for her charm and beauty. She will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts. A celebration of her life will be held this coming Spring 2016.
