Patricia Ann Yager Faulkner, 86, of Salt Lake City, Utah passed away Saturday April 23, 2016. Pat was born October 13, 1929 in Gary, Indiana the daughter of George and Bessie (Jackson) Yager. On September 16, 1950 she married Ralph B. Faulkner in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Salt Lake City in 1951.
She graduated from Lincoln High School in Orem, Utah in 1947. She continued her education at Brigham Young University graduating with a degree in history and a minor in political science. Years later Pat went back to school at the University of Utah after her three boys reached school age. She completed a teaching certificate and a library certificate leading to a 25 year career as an elementary school media coordinator for the Jordan School District. Thousands of young students, as well as her sons and grandchildren, learned the wonder of books under her careful guidance. She had a lifelong love for art and travel which resulted in trips to museums all over the world. Her love of art also led to her sharing that love with hundreds, if not thousands of students as a docent for the Utah Museum of Fine Art at the University of Utah where she volunteered for over twenty years. She also volunteered at the Women’s Center at St. Marks Hospital for many years. Her love of art and travel; her dedication to education and service have inspired many of us, particularly her sons and grandchildren.
Pat is survived by her husband Ralph, Salt Lake City; her son Don (Ruth Ann), Fargo, North Dakota; and her son Ken, Salt Lake City; four grandsons; four granddaughters; and five great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and her son Lin.
