Patricia Ann Benton Tsuyuki

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Patricia “Pat” Ann Benton Tsuyuki, 67, passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, January 18, 2016, at her Midvale home after a short battle with cancer.  She was born on February 2, 1948 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Clyde and Marjoria Benton. The family moved to Salt Lake City when she was 4 and attended Central Christian Church.  Pat later became an early member of Southeast Christian Church, where she enjoyed singing with the praise team.  She attended St. John’s Lutheran School and later graduated from Highland High School. She met her high school sweetheart and love, Mark Tsuyuki, on a blind date on his 16th birthday.  They were married on August 31, 1967.  She attended the University of Utah and later was employed there for over 30 years, primarily at the Student Counseling Center.  She was an avid Utes and Jazz fan. She also worked alongside her husband at the Mikado Restaurant downtown in the family owned business and bowled for many years in the Nisei league. Her greatest joys were her Lord and Savior, her family, and traveling with them to Kapolei and Kauai, Hawaii, Hilton Head, South Carolina and Williamsburg, Virginia.
She is survived by her husband Mark of 48 wonderful years; children, Lori (Mark) Okino, Karen, and Christopher (Alysia); grandsons, Justin and Keaton; and grandpups, Benton and Panda, of Salt Lake City; as well as brothers, George (LeAnn) of Tehachapi, California, David (Eileen) of Boise, Idaho and Bill (Robin) of La Plata, Maryland. Her parents and sister, Marjorie, preceded her into life everlasting. Viewings will be held on Sunday, January 24th from 6 – 8 p.m. at Memorial Murray Mortuary located at 5850 South 900 East, Murray, Utah and Monday, January 25th from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Southeast Christian Church located at 1881 E. Vine Street, Salt Lake City, Utah.  Service to follow at Southeast Christian Church at 12 p.m.  Interment will be at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery located at 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
