Otto Carl Schmitke

June 12, 1934 — April 30, 2017

Our Dad, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle & Friend, Otto Carl Schmitke left this world to be received into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, April 30, 2017.  Otto was born June 12, 1934 in Stephan, MN to Carl and Alvina Schmitke.  He married his wife and partner of 44 years, Mary June Kessler on June 11, 1960 who preceded him in death May 28, 2005.  He served in the Army during the Korean War receiving an Honorable Discharge when his tour was complete.  He loved working in his garden as well as tinkering in his garage.  He was a long-time member of Bible Church of Salt Lake where he also served as an Assistant Chaplin at SAPP Bros Truck Stop.  He is survived by his children; Colleen Feeney of Morris, IL,; Curtis (Sheri) of Riverton; Sheila (Mike) Dowe of Sahuarita, AZ; Quintin (Lisa) of Fort Worth, TX; Craig (Marni) of Bluffdale; Fourteen Grandchildren, Five Great Grandchildren, two Brothers, Harold and Irvin; and two Sisters, Margaret and Millie; and several nieces and nephews.  Otto was preceded by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday May 4, 2017 at 11:00 am at Mountain View Memorial Mortuary and Cemetery, 3115 E 7800 S (Bengal Blvd) with the viewing beginning at 10:00 am and the internment directly following the service.
