Orlando “David” Peña

April 20, 1959 — May 27, 2021

David was born on April 20, 1959, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the beloved firstborn son of Orlando Peña and Rose (Lujan) Peña. It is with profound sorrow that we announce his passing on May 27, 2021 in West Jordan, Utah. David was 62 years old. He left our family with broken hearts as he joined his father and other loved ones who have passed on before him.
David was a loving son, brother, father and grandfather. He was a charismatic, friendly guy who lived spontaneously. His attitude was “live today and let tomorrow take care of itself”.
David attended Bingham High School through the eleventh grade. He graduated from Valley High School in 1977.
He was a voracious reader and read extensively, both fiction and non-fiction. He had an eclectic taste in music and listened to all different genres. He loved listening to Beethoven and Mozart, plus he loved the Beatles and hard rock.
David also loved tennis and started playing as a young man with his brother, Marvin.
One of his favorite past times was riding his bike. He would hop on the bus or Trax with it and then ride all over Salt Lake. A heartbreaking memory is the day he told me that he couldn’t lift his bike onto the bus and the bus driver had to get off the bus to help him. He was devastated that he had gotten so weak.
He loved all of his family members and many friends. He had a very special bond with his brother, Marvin. The two of them would play cards, go fishing or just sit around chatting and having a “cold one or two”. His mom and his sisters loved him dearly. We will all miss him immensely each and every day.
Rest In Peace David.
Let your spirit soar high my beloved son!
Fly with the angels.
You have earned your wings.
He is survived by his mother Rose, his siblings, Marvin (Yolanda) Peña, Carrie Gallegos and Brenda Foti (Demetrio). His son and daughter, Jeff and Peggy Burke, his grandchildren, Kyndra and Tyra Burke and Everly Rose Cicnerous. His nephews, Nick and Chris Gallegos, Nathaniel Peña and Demetrio Foti Jr. His nieces, Brittany and Melissa Foti and Cassandra Peña, plus numerous other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Orlando I. Peña, his grandparents, Juan and Elvira Peña and Willie and Maggie Lujan, his brother-in-law, Rob Gallegos and an infant granddaughter, Arriyah Burke.
