Opal was born January 19, 1925 in Ogden, Utah to Henri J. Lambert and Mary (Minnie) Patterson. She Passed on September 28, 2013 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She and Blain Gailey married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 13, 1945. She remained a devoted wife and a loving mother to six children. She willingly served her community and faithfully served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including five temple missions with her husband Blain in Dallas, Texas; Mexico City, Mexico; Orlando, Florida; Laie, Hawaii; and Nauvoo, Illinois. She had boundless energy and even waterskied at age 80. She loved the homemaking arts and devoted hours to gardening, canning, sewing and quilting. She made hundreds of quilts for her children, grandchildren and friends. She loved to go new places and visited Europe, Asia, Central and South America, the Islands, the Baltics, the Holy Land, Australia, New Zealand and all states in the US. We will miss her love of life, love of fun, and love of seeing the world. Survived by: Blain S Gailey, their children, Linda (Art) Ball, Cailynn (Marv) Brinkerhoff, Kent (Kathy) Gailey, Roger (Susan) Gailey, Ron (Heidi) Gailey, Glenn (Kris) Gailey, 56 grandchildren and 70 great grandchildren. Also survived by her sister, Cleo Briggs. Preceded in death by her parent, five sisters, and great grandchild, Faith Thomas. Viewing to be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013 at Murray Memorial Mortuary 5850 S 900 E, Salt Lake City Services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Kimball Ward, 2280 S 300 E Salt Lake City, with a viewing from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m.
