Onolina Seumanu Vili Afemata

February 1, 1935 — January 7, 2017

Kearns, UT- Onolina “Mama” Seumanu Vili Afemata , beloved Wife, Mother, Daughter,
Sister, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend, passed away peacefully at the IHC
hospital in Murray, UT in the company of her children and grandchildren on January 7, 2017.
She was born to the late Seumanu Vili and Etelagi Mulitauaopele Aga, on February 1, 1935, in
Faga’itua, American Samoa and was the second eldest of 10 children. On October 24, 1953 she
married her eternal companion Pemasa Uimaitua Afemata and together had 12 children. In
1975 she became a full-time food service worker at BYU-Hawaii where she then retired after
working 20+ years. Mama was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day
Saints where she had served in various callings.
She is survived by her 6 Children; Misiona Fao (Sau), Masela Afemata, Lucy Tanuvasa
(Pita), Vahine Loa (Sala), Senovefa Tuigamala (Poli), Souvenir Green (Shawn), Taliloa Afemata
(Vicki), 51 grandchildren, and 64 great grandchildren, along with her siblings, Luaitaua Puleono
Vili, Senovefa Pritt, Punipuao Posala, Vitolio Vili, and Rosalia Seumanu.
Preceded in death by her Parents, her beloved Sweetheart, sons Fauao, Faupo, Uimaitua
“Michael”, Fauao “Frank”, daughter Masela as well as her Siblings Tauave Faatea, Liutoa Vili,
Luvino Vili, and Mulitauaopele Lino Vili.
Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
(Mapusaga Ward)
3970 S 5200 W, West Valley City, UT.
Family service will be at 9:00-10:00 am
With the Viewing from 1000-1100 am,
and the Final service at 1100-1200 pm.
The burial will be at the Redwood Mortuary where she will be laid to rest.
Fa’afetai Tele Lava and Thank you to the Rocky Mountain Hunter Hollow Care for their great care and
hospitality during her final days.
