Olympia Julia Romero, our beloved mother, passed away October 5, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was born September 3, 1930 in Durango, Colorado to Urbano Montano and Rebecca Archuleta. She married the love of her life, Paul J. Romero, on March 6, 1948. They enjoyed 67 happy years together. Olympia showed her love by making quilts for her family and friends and by making tortillas and tamales. She was actively involved in her church in many capacities. Strong faith in the Lord, love of family, and service to others were hallmarks of her life. Even to her final days, she was more concerned for others than herself.
Olympia is survived by her husband Paul, children Tom (Connie), Larry (Annabell), Rebekah (Frank) Espinoza, Stan (Melinda), 21 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, siblings Bernie Torres, Sarah Velasquez, Robert Talamante, and countless honorary children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Barbara Groves, son-in-law Harold Groves, grandson Jason Romero, and siblings Dan Romero, Beatrice Cordova and Max Talamante.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 9, 2015 at Mount Calvary (3050 South 3200 West, West Valley, Utah) at 10:00 a.m. Viewings will be held at the church one hour prior to the service and on October 8 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
