Olive Petrogeorge Paras loving wife, mother, and “Yiayia” passed away peacefully on Mother’s Day, May 8, 2016, in Salt Lake City. She was born in Hiawatha Utah on March 31,1926, to Chris and Pauline Petrogeorge. Olive married her true love, Gus John Paras, on June 17, 1952. They spent nearly all of their time together, running the family business, Paras Market. Their devotion to each other and loving bond was obvious to all who knew them. Olive was astonishingly kind. Children raised in the area fondly remember her passing out candy and putting a dime in the grocery store’s mechanical horse to give them a free ride. The first thing most people noticed about Olive was her beautiful hair. She took pride in many different styles over the years but the rich black color never changed. In her later years she had more time to crochet, garden and enjoy her love of cooking for her husband. If you were one of the lucky ones, you received a plate of delicious Greek cookies at Christmas time, or a set of beautifully crocheted dish cloths on special occasions.
Her husband’s passing last December was one of the hardest things that Olive endured and she never stopped longing for their eternal reunion. She is survived by her three sons Nick (Kathy) Paras, Jim Paras (Ken Powell) and Michael (Lisa) Paras and two grandchildren Gus Nick Paras and James Michael Paras. Olive was the last of her siblings to depart this earth. But she leaves behind many nieces and nephews who were touched by her kind and caring nature.
Special thanks to Rosewood Assisted Living for her stay there and to Care Source Hospice Center for their compassionate care during her final days.
