Our beloved Olive Janet Michaelis, 88, passed away Thursday, November 30, from cerebrovascular disease in the memory care center, Spring Gardens, Holladay, UT. She was born August 31, 1935 to Oliver and Elizabeth Hutchinson in Holladay where she was the youngest of seven siblings, four brothers and three sisters.
As a young woman, Olive moved to Sacramento, California where she amazingly raised a blended family of five, three daughters and two sons. Later in life, she returned to Holladay, where she met and married Clayton Dean Michaelis. They were loving partners who dearly loved each other, their families, and their cats.
Olive was a woman of many talents and tenacity. As a young mother, she worked outside the home in clerical and bookkeeping jobs. A woman that stood her ground, she qualified as a general contractor in the state of California and went on to earn two AA degrees from the department of Architecture, Engineering, and Construction, Salt Lake City Community College. She was a small business owner of both contracting and notary work.
Olive was the last surviving member of her brothers and sisters. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Clay, and son, Phillip Haney. She is now survived by her two daughters, Lory, and Lisa (Ad), as well as her blended family, Terry, Diana, Todd, and Arna, 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
