Olevia Sevena Aiolupotea Sellesin

Olevia Sevena Sellesin, age 64, passed away peacefully and in the arms of her Eternal Companion on February 21, 2025 at her home in North Salt Lake, Utah. She was born on May 11, 1960 in Falelima, Samoa to Lopeti Tanuvasa Aiolupotea Tonumaipea and Suitupe Maua’i Aiolupotea Tonumaipea.

Olevia spent her childhood in Laie, Hawaii where she attended grade school and graduated from Kahuku High School in 1979, Red Raiders for Life! She furthered her education at BYU–Hawaii and later transferred and graduated from Stevens-Henager College, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2005.

During this period, she met and married her Eternal Companion in Laie, Hawaii and was sealed in the Laie, Hawaii Temple on October 13, 1990. She then relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah in May of 1998.

Olevia was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served a full-time mission in Sacramento, California from 1987 – 1989. She held various callings from being a teacher, pianist, and secretary to being YSA spiritual parent, ward music coordinator, and chorister. She had a deep love for the gospel and would attend church services regularly.

She loved music in all forms and was a member of her ward choir. She played piano for numbers of church services and was a ward chorister for many years. In 2022 she had the opportunity to sing in the All-Women’s Choir for the April Women’s Conference.

She loved being a mother and was most excited to become a grandmother to her first grandchild, our sweet Taimileatua Sevena, name after her.

She is survived by her husband and eternal companion, Panapa Sellesin; children, Tilomai Sellesin, Alasini Sellesin-Duenas (Bradley), Nuuleta’u Sellesin (Nicole); her granddaughter Taimileatua Sevena; her siblings Faipule Ainge (Wayne), Viola Tauvao (Setefano), Lopeti II Aiolupotea (Taiepo), Leutogi Flood (Hugh); and all of her nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Olevia is preceded in death by her parents, Lopeti Tanuvasa Aiolupotea Tonumaipea and Suitupe Maua’i Aiolupotea Tonumaipea and her siblings; Afioga Faleolo (Uesile), Leitulai Matila (Setoga), Faimata Aiolupotea, Sinavaiana Aiolupotea Sua, Elisapeta Brewer (Larry), Lupemua Aiolupotea, and Taliva’a Aiolupotea (Ruth).

Funeral services for Olevia will be on Monday, March 3, 2025 beginning at 8:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 55 East 350 North, North Salt Lake. She will be laid to rest following the services at Memorial Lakeview Mortuary & Cemetery, 1640 East Lakeview Drive, Bountiful.
