Nydia Harris

June 4, 1948 — September 7, 2024

Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Nydia Ferrari Harris, returned to her Heavenly parents on September 7, 2024, at her home in Sandy, Utah, surrounded by her loved ones. The family will receive visitors between 6 and 8 pm on September 20, 2024, and funeral services will be held September 21, 2024, at 11am in the Old Dairy Ward at 1106 Old Dairy Road, Sandy, Utah. Interment will follow at the Memorial Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 Bengal Blvd, Cottonwood Heights, Utah

Nydia was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, on June 4, 1948, to Juan Ferrari and Gabina Hipolita Armellini. She was spiritually inclined from her youth and at the age of 14 was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She married John Arthur Harris in the Salt Lake Temple on May 29, 1968. Together, they had a lifetime of adventure living abroad. With three children under the age of 3, John and Nydia moved to Lima, Peru, to open seminaries and institutes. At the young age of 26, she was called to serve with her husband as President of the Argentina Buenos Aires North Mission, where she loved and cared for many missionaries who became life-long friends. Later in life, when her husband was a US Senior Diplomat and Area Authority Seventy, she lived in Mexico, Chile, Brazil and Israel. She held numerous callings in the Church and always loved and served others wherever she lived. Nydia’s professional career included being a travel agent for Murdock Travel and the Missionary Department in Salt Lake City and an international account manager for US West in Mexico.

Nydia was a loving mother and grandmother, a superb organizer, a great teacher, and an inspiring public speaker. She never cared about titles, wealth, or fame. She made a warm home for her family wherever she lived. She is survived by John Harris, her husband of 56 years, her five children, John Alan, Annalie, Cynthia, Jonathan, and Michael, sixteen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
