Norma Bates

Norma E. Bates (Bowen) 86, of Kearns, Utah returned to her Heavenly Father Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in Murray, Utah. She was born in Pocatello, Idaho the daughter of Elmer and Mary C. Bartlett.She married Hyrum D Bates on August 16, 1952 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, May 15, 1959. In 1999 she married Jay Bowen, deceased.She worked for Industrial Supply Company. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served in numerous callings, including an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple.Survivors include daughter Judy West (Steve), son John Bates (Cynthia), grandchildren Sharon Williams (Travis), Amy Reich, Michael (Alicia), Jeffrey (Trista) and Eric (Abby) West, Mark (Karen), Matthew (Ranae), Ronald (Marcele), Randy (Brittnee), and Phillip (Nichelle) Bates, brother Roger Bartlett (Evelyn) and 24 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, brother and sisters, and a great-grandchild.Funeral services will be held at 11:00, Tuesday, January 22, 2013. A viewing will be held from 6-8 Monday, January 21, and one hour prior to services, all at the Murray Memorial Mortuary, 5850 S 900 E.
