Nona “Kathy” Kathleen Petersen

September 26, 1948 — October 11, 2018

She passed away October 11, 2018 in her home in South Jordan while being cared for by her loving husband and went home to her Heavenly Father. She was born on September 26, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Married Larry Dee Petersen June 30, 1971. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple June 24,1980.
Her hobbies and interests included: sewing, crocheting, tatting, canvas/tole painting, woodworking, flower arranging and quilting. She enjoyed being outdoors, camping, atv/utv riding, boating, gardening, tandem biking, dancing, watching University of Utah Sports (especially basketball) and spending time at the cabin with the family. She loved animals (especially dogs) and going to all the kids and grandkids events (programs, dances and soccer games). She was a volunteer tutor in schools for 17 years. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints and served in the Primary, Young Women and Relief Society. She also served in the Family History Library for four and a half years and was a Draper Temple Ordinance worker for five years.
She is survived by her spouse Larry Petersen, four children Cory (Nikki) Petersen, Jason (Marie) Petersen, Jenilee (Steve) Medell, Kaycee (Jared) Bowling and seven grandchildren Meaghan (15), Aubree (11), Grayson (9), Bailey (7), Morgan (5), Ainsley (4), Kaylee (4). She was preceded in death by her parents James and Marjorie Smith and her sisters Marty Smith and Jean Smith. Viewing will be held at Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery on October 20, 2018 from 12:00 -1:00 pm. There will be a graveside service for family and close friends at 2:30 pm, Wanship Cemetery, 2362 South State Road 32, Coalville, Utah.
