Nola Marie Hollingshead Hemingway, 85, passed away on December 28, 2015, peacefully with family by her side.
She was born August 5, 1930, the daughter of Nolan A. and Marie Poulson Hollingshead. She married Vernon Leo Hemingway on August 16, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were married for 64 years. She had a few jobs before and while they were first married and then enjoyed being a stay at home mom while doing theater audits with her father.  She started working for the Census Bureau in 1980 and 1990.  In 1991, she started doing surveys for the Census for 14 years until her health could not permit it any longer.
She was a faithful member of the LDS Church teaching Sunday school and then Primary for 50 years. She also taught the blazer scouts for 48 years.  She was honored to receive several scouting awards, District award of Merit (Nov. 17, 1973), Silver Beaver (Feb. 19, 1981) and Influential Women of Scouting (Oct. 20, 2009).  She worked on 2 district committees and helped on the council committee for Scouting.  She was a merit badge counselor for 5 merit badges and earned her Wood Badge beads in 1980.
Mom had many talents and hobbies. She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice.  She was chosen from school in 1939 to sing in the Tabernacle Children’s Choir and often sang duets with her mother in church functions.  She loved to sing in her ward and stake choirs and was often chosen for solos. She had a love for classical music and played the violin in Jr. High and High School.  At home she would play the piano and ukulele while her kids would dance around.  She taught herself how to knit and crochet and made some quilts.  She loved working with leather craft and designed patterns by hand.  She also enjoyed textile painting and Artex paints and made table cloths and pictures.
Mom was honored to be the only member from the State of Utah to be in TOPS consistently for 53 years and earned her KOPS status in April 2010. She was a member and served as an officer in DUP.
She loved to travel and went on a tour of back East with her best friend and a few years later went back and took her family. Some of her favorite destinations were Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Scotland, Wales and England.
She is survived by her sons: Paul (Sally), Roger, Arthur Shawn (Zeta); daughters: Winona Marie Hemingway-Sant, Cheryl Ann Gilbert, Trudy, Wendy and Lori; 26 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
