Our loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away January 21, 2016. It was just 8 years from this day her husband passed.
She was born December 14, 1924 in Oxford, Idaho to Adam and Orris Carpenter.
She married the love and soul mate of her life, Odell Ransom, on May 3, 1945. They were together for 63 years until his passing in 2008.
Emma really loved serving others, but when it came time for others to serve her, she hated it. She really loved road trips and playing cards, especially the trips to Wendover. Mom really loved her children and grandkids.
She is survived by her children: son, Bill (Goldie); daughters, Sharon (Kent) George, Diane (Paul) Martinez, and Karen (Dave) Whyte; brothers, Charles, Eldon, Howard (Chuck), and Boyd; sisters, Etta Mae Buttars and Mary (Jim) Nielson; 3 sisters-in-law, Lois, Joyce and Betty; and 17 grandkids, 39 great-grandkids, and 9 great-great grandkids.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband Odell; son, Tim; daughter-in-law, Sharon; granddaughters, Sherri Lynn and Lori; and brothers, Keith and Reid.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood Rd., West Jordan, with a viewing beginning at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Memorial Redwood Cemetery.
