Claire Bernards Wilde died on January 21, 2016 in Layton, Utah. She was born on May 26, 1931 to John B. Bernards and Bessie Knapp. She married Sherman Wilde on June 30, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were the parents of five children. Following Sherm’s death in 1969, Claire married Bill Behunin. They were later divorced.
Claire was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions. She especially enjoyed her service on Temple Square and in the Conference Center. She also served in the St. George Temple. Claire was an excellent cook and enjoyed baking cookies for fellow employees. She worked at Consolidated Electrical Distributing for many years as a secretary.
Claire is survived by her children, Maurine Openshaw, Michael (Susan), and Michelle (Michael ) Lani; 17 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren; sister, Jonita (Jim) Mortensen; and brother, J.D. (Louise) Bernards. She was preceded in death by her husband Sherm, and two sons, David and John.
The family wishes to thank the Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful and Ashley at South Davis Hospice for the care they received.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan. A viewing will be held at the same location on Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM, and again 1 hour prior to services. Condolences may be left at www.MemorialUtah.com.
