No Name Available

June 11, 1953 — November 10, 2020

Stephen Reid Seely, 67, passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side in Layton, Utah, November 10, 2020
Born June 11, 1953, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Leo Reid Seely and the former Barbara Greenshields Seely at The LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City Utah.

In his childhood, Steve had a zest for sports and was an excellent baseball and football player. He was spirited, knew what he wanted, and was particularly great at having a good time! As a teen, Steve spent time in 4H and had a passion for horses and all things outdoors. He also loved to bowl and was exceptionally gifted in the sport. Steve was a league bowler with lifelong friends Russ and Jill Iverson and even bowled in amateur tournaments.

Steve Married Peggy Greenwood in 1973, later divorced and married the former Debbie Moffitt in 1982, and later divorced. Together, they raised Debbie’s son Zach Roberts and had two beautiful daughters – Andrea and Ashleah. It was at this time that he took on his greatest role as father and best friend. His children were his world. He instilled in them an incredible work ethic and of course a desire to live life to the fullest in joy and laughter in the presence of others.

Steve had a big heart, and despite the manly fisherman, golfer, hunter, and sportsman he had been known to tear up while watching wholesome horse films and Hallmark. He loved to give meaningful gifts to family and friends. Steve had a talent for making those around him feel like they were loved and all on “his team”.  Steve’s passion for music was unmatched. A master at musical trivia, you could play the first 5 seconds of any song from his era and he could name the artist, song title, and even the year of its release.

Steve was a skilled driver in his career and worked in this capacity for Pepsi, Carlson distributing, Budweiser, Miller, Waste Management, BFI and finally Allied Waste. Steve worked hard in pride until the job was done to perfection.

Steve was an exceptional grandfather who always outdid his own children with his “grandpa” gifts, and quest for good times with them. Steve proudly helped his daughter Ashleah to raise her two daughters Tailinn and Tailee.  Steve spent time fishing, camping, bowling, playing games, and celebrating nearly every holiday with his seven grandchildren.  Their Grandpa Seely will be remembered for reciting “the sky is blue; the grass is green” around them to teach optimism.

Steve is survived by his children Andrea (Shawn) Sorensen, Ashleah Seely, stepson Zach (Nikki) Roberts, seven wonderful grandchildren, his father L. Reid Seely, brother Michael (MaryJane) Seely, and sister Suzanne (Dana) Tirado. Preceded in death by his mother Barbara E. Jenkinson.
