Newell Lund

Newell Garld Lund, age 84, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, April 3, 2015. Newell was born February 18, 1931 in Gunnison, Utah to Alva H. and Amber Metcalf Lund. He grew up working on the family farm and graduated from Gunnison High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He married Lyda Blanche Jeffries in 1952. Newell retired from the SLC Water Department after 37 years of service. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin above Kamas, Utah and riding his four wheeler. He also liked to watch the Utah Jazz. His greatest joy in life was his family and spending time with his grandkids.
He will be greatly missed by his son, Mitchell Lund and daughter, Melissa (Ed) Skinner; his grandchildren, Justin (Rebekah) Skinner, Aaron Lund, Jessica Skinner, Carson Lund, Jeffrey Skinner, Conner Lund, Jacob VanDuren; great-granddaughter, Madison Skinner; and his dear friend Edith Welch.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche; daughter, Becky; and brothers, Eugene and Deloyd Lund.
