Nadine Van Harn

September 24, 1953 — October 31, 2021

Nadine Clara Hobbs Van Harn passed away peacefully after battling cancer, in Taylorsville, UT, on October 31, 2021, surrounded by her loving husband and family. She was a cherished daughter, wife, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, friend, and second-mom to many. Born September 24, 1953, in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada, the second of 10 children to Hubert James and Ethel Doreen Hobbs. She married Rudy Van Harn on June 26, in Grand Island, NB. They met at a dance and celebrated their 33rd anniversary this year. Nadine and Rudy went on many adventures including cruises, trips to visit family in Canada, the western coast, Lake Tahoe, Wendover, Mesquite, and camping trips to Palisade Lake, Moab, and American Fork canyon.
Nadine was loved by all who knew her. She was known in the neighborhood by anyone who needed a listening ear, a fantastic meal, or even just a friend. Nadine always kept a secret stash of candy or gum, if needed, for bribery or to be known as the favorite aunt or neighbor. She never forgot a special occasion and you could always count on a card for your birthday, anniversary, or nearly every holiday. Her garden was a place where she spent endless hours cultivating her love of flowers and her vacations were often scheduled around the watering of the plants. She also shared her bountiful harvest of vegetables with friends, family, and neighbors.
She is survived by her husband Rudy Van Harn, Mother Doreen Hobbs, siblings Bonnie (Alan) Christofferson, Keith Hobbs, Steve (Sandy) Hobbs, Greg (Cathy) Hobbs, Robert Hobbs, Joy (Danny) Frazier, and Brent Hobbs. Along with her children by marriage Christine (Jimmy) Marquez, Paul Van Harn, and Eric (Holly) Van Harn, and grandchildren by marriage Gavin, Keyaira, and Alysa. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father Hubert James Hobbs and her sisters Ruth Ann Hobbs and Dayna Diane Hobbs.
A graveside service will be held at Memorial Redwood Cemetery located at 6500 S. Redwood Road, Taylorsville, UT on Wednesday, November 10, at 12:00 p.m.
