Morton Chester (Chet) Roundy

Morton Chester (Chet) Roundy, 90, died April 3, 2016 in Bountiful, Utah. He was born October 17, 1925 in Alton, Utah to Lauren Shadrach and Viola Cutler Roundy. He was the youngest of four children. He grew up on the family farm in Alton. He graduated from Valley High School. He was student-body president when he was a junior and played on the basketball team. He was drafted into the Navy in 1943 and was a radioman and gunner on a PV aircraft.  After World War II ended, he was a MP on shore patrol. He attended the University of Utah where he earned a Law Degree. While attending the University he met Lillian Pearl Perry at Bill and Nada’s Café where they both worked. They eloped December 8, 1949 to Elko, NV. Their marriage was later solemnized in July 1957 at the Logan LDS Temple.  They had four children, Ron, Dave, Judy, and Sandi.  They raised their family in Bountiful, Utah. Chet worked as a Claim’s Adjustor and Manager for Unigard Insurance for 35 years.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in several callings including an ordinance worker in the Bountiful LDS Temple for 15 years. He was a sport’s enthusiast following many sports and teams, however he loved to watch BYU even though he was a U alumnus. He enjoyed playing golf, pinochle, and had a great love of music. He worked every Saturday for many years on his father-in-law’s farm.  He was loving, kind, caring, and devoted to his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lauren and Viola Roundy, wife, Lillian Roundy, sister, Laura Bell and brother Paul Roundy. He is survived by his children, Ron Roundy, Salt Lake City, Utah, Dave (Sylvia) Roundy, San Antonio, Texas, Judy (Brett) Johnson, Rexburg, Idaho, and Sandi Roundy, Salt Lake City, Utah, a brother, Milton Roundy, St. George, Utah, 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Viewing will be held Thursday, April 7th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Friday April 8th from 10:00 to 10:45 am   with funeral services to follow at 11:00 am at Bountiful 24thWard Chapel (720 East 550 North, Bountiful, Utah).  Interment will be at Lakeview Memorial Cemetery.
