Mohammad “Moe” Karim Sharifan, one of the most loving and lovable men, left this Earth tragically on July 23, 2015 at the age of 66.
Moe moved to Utah from Tehran, Iran in the 1970s on an engineering scholarship to Weber State University. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in the shortest amount of time so he could return back to Iran to marry the love of his life, Kobra “Fairy” Asgary-Tavana.
Moe and Fairy celebrated 43 years of marriage and had three children and three grandchildren who are the joys of their lives. In 1989, Moe uprooted his life from Iran to provide a better opportunity for his kids. He couldn’t have been more proud of them.
There wasn’t a person who met Moe who wasn’t touched by his generosity, warm smile, and kindness. Moe had a remarkable passion for life that he shared through the lens of his camera. He enjoyed traveling, camping, photography, skiing, ping-pong, hosting social events, playing with his grandchildren, and learning new things. He lived so fully and embraced the best that life had to offer. Moe’s vibrant smile and laughter will forever live on in the memories of those who knew him.
Moe is survived by his best friend and wife, Fairy; his children Shahrzad “Shar” Christopher (Matt), Sina Sharifan (Robyn), and Tara Sharifan (Auzzy); his grandchildren Jadyn, Kyan, and Leila; his father and siblings; and his many loving friends (family) in the Iranian community. He was preceded in death by his mother and his in-laws.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Moe’s work family at ARUP and to all the medical staff at University Hospital.
A celebration of Moe’s life will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28 at Mountain View Mortuary & Cemetery, 3115 E 7800 S, Cottonwood Heights. A visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in his name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, LLS.org/Utah, an organization Moe strongly supported.
We love you Daddy.
