General Mohammadi, 96, Imperial Iranian Air Force 3-Star General Retired, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2015, in Salt Lake City, Utah, surrounded by family and loved ones. He left behind a rich legacy of public service, generosity and compassion.
He began his military career as a cadet in the Army Air Corps in Tehran, Iran, earning a Bachelors Degree in mechanical engineering. After graduation as a Second Lieutenant, he held various posts while earning a reputation for honesty, integrity and most importantly, respect and love for his colleagues but especially those who served under him. In 1953, he earned his Masters in Engineering Administration from Maxwell Air Force Base’s Air University, located in Montgomery, Alabama. He earned his first star in 1966 but always remained humble, earning the nickname of “Soldiers’ General.” In 1978, he retired from the Air Force as Commander of Air and Grounds Logistics Command. He received numerous military decorations and awards during his 42 years of service. In retirement, his benevolent & kind nature was recognized & appreciated by all who came to know him, not as a military officer, but a gentle and kind soul.
He is survived by his wife, Najmi, four children, ten grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. In memory of General Mohammadi, memorial donations may be made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, in Salt Lake City, Utah.Service Information
