Mitsuo Ushio

March 17, 1940 — February 9, 2021

Mitsuo (Mits) Ushio, born March 17,1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Tadao Ushio and Ruby Akita, passed away unexpectedly February 9, 2021 at his West Valley home at the age of 80.
The eldest of three children, Mits attended Salt Lake City public schools, graduating from West High School.
A member of the Utah National Guard, he began a lengthy career with Western Electric, as a Teletype repairman. He followed up his employment there with technical positions at the Cordin Company, producers of specialty cameras and Boeing Aircraft, before his retirement.
A lifelong bachelor, he enjoyed hobbies such as welding, electronics and most anything technical. Radio-controlled devices were among his interests and he participated with other hobbyists in his pursuits. Snowmobiling took up some of his spare time for a while as well.
Mits looked forward to and enjoyed meeting with his group of friends for weekly Wednesday night dinners at Coachmans Restaurant. The family would like to thank Spencer, a member of that group, for being such a good friend to Mits over the years.
Mits’ encyclopedic knowledge for tools made him the go-to guy when you needed information or to borrow one. He would undoubtedly have it for the job.
He was a kind, humble and thoughtful man who will be missed by his family and friends.
Mits leaves behind his youngest sister, Janet, as well as nephews Verdo Thomas, Wesley Thomas and Tadao Winward, Great-niece, Emiko Winward and Great-nephews, Arlo Thomas and Alexander Winward, including various cousins and an aunt, Mae Akita. His mother, father and a sister, Linda Winward, precede him in death.
A private graveside service will be held in the Spring.
