Misti Jo Love, age 43, of San Antonio passed away on Friday, May 25, 2018. She was born on May 20, 1975 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to the late Gordon Howard and Karen Rae (Shurtliff) Love. At the age of two, her family moved to Utah; she graduated from Taylorsville High School. She was a competitive ballet dancer and cheerleader, having earned numerous accolades and a scholarship for her achievements.
She married Brett Sowell in 1994 in Salt Lake City; together, they would raise 5 children throughout their many domestic and international Air Force assignments.
She was a dedicated military wife, loving mother, daughter, sister, and loyal friend to all. She was known for her dedication and determination, she reached every goal she ever set; most recently achieving ‘pro-status’ as a body building figure competitor. Her larger than life personality, as the ‘life of the party,’ always left a memorable impression on everyone she met.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and aunts, Bonnie Thompson and Kris Jensen.
She is survived by her children that meant everything to her, Brett ‘Taylor,’ Dylan, Hailey, Brady and Gavyn; and their father, Brett Sowell, all of San Antonio; siblings, Tracey (Bryan) Menzel, of Salt Lake City, Kip (Kathy) Love, of Salt Lake City, Kelly (Wendy) Love, of Salt Lake City; uncles, Chuck Shurtliff and Kim Shurtliff; aunt, Pam Shurtliff, all of Salt Lake City; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and many close friends she considered family.
Family is receiving friends on Thursday, May 31st from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will commence at 7:00 pm with David M. Keller officiating at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, Texas 78232.
There will also be a graveside service held on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 11:00 am at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary and Cemetery, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121. Family will receive friends an hour prior to the graveside from 10:00 – 10:45 am.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family suggests donations made in her memory to The Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).Service Information
