Milfred Benjamin (Mel) Halsey, age 95, and Patricia Marian Lambourne Halsey, age 94, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2024. Mel passed first and Pat followed him 101/2 hours later.
Mel was born on January 4, 1929, in Rathdrum, Idaho, the seventh of eight children of Homer and Ethel Halsey.
Pat was born on May 14, 1930, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the second of four children of John and Tresea Lambourne.
Mel and Pat were married on October 24, 1949, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral in Salt Lake City, Utah. They spent the next 75 years together.
Mel came to Utah in 1948 and went to work for Cudahy Packing Col, (Bar S Meats). He later worked for Trane Mfg. and CP Industries.
Pat worked for the Salt Lake City Board of Education for 37 years in a number of different school lunchrooms.
Mel and Pat retired in 1998.
They enjoyed playing Bingo at St. Patrick’s Church on Saturdays and made many friends there. Mel was an avid reader and Pat enjoyed crocheting.
They are survived by four children, 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Mel is also survived by his sister Esther Dazell of Kennewick, Washington.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Redwood Mortuaries and Cemeteries, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be prior to services from 9:30 to 10:45 AM.
