Our loving wife, mother and grandmother, Mildred Stevens, returned to her Father in Heaven on May 15, 2015. Mildred was born October 29, 1927, to Harold and Bertha Olsen. She was the oldest of four children. Mildred was married to her sweetheart Ted Lewis Stevens on February 27, 1946, and later sealed for eternity in the Manti Temple.
She is survived by her sweetheart, Ted and their three children: Lewis (Sue) Stevens, of Decatur, Texas; Judy (Doug) Hawks of West Valley; and Gary Stevens of West Jordan; 12 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys Peterson (sister), and Axel Hawks (great grandson).
Mildred was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She faithfully served in many church callings, including service as a temple worker at the Salt Lake Temple. She especially enjoyed working with the Young Women. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed camping and square dancing with her sweetheart. Mildred’s favorite place to square dance was at Flaming Gorge, Utah, which she referred to it as the “Dam Dance”. We are very grateful to have had her in our lives. We know Heavenly Father has a special place for her in Heaven.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 21st at the Cannon 1st Ward (934 West Fremont Ave., Salt Lake City). A viewing will be held Wednesday, May 20th, from 7-9 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Cemetery (6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan) and one hour prior to the funeral. Interment at Redwood Memorial Estates will follow the services.
