Mildred Ida Persson Butler

July 14, 1929 — July 25, 2018

Mildred Ida Persson Butler was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on July 14, 1929, and died in Price, Utah, on July 25, 2018. Her parents are Erik Anders Persson and Ida Emelia Josefina Hansson.  She was very proud of her Swedish heritage.
Millie graduated from East High School and attended LDS Business College. Her first clerical job was as the secretary to the head of Warner Brothers Studios in Salt Lake City.  She then stayed home to raise her children for several years. Her last position was as a secretary in the Granite School District Head Start program.  She loved her work and fellow employees.
 
She met her future husband Kenneth Alvin Butler in their ward choir in Salt Lake City. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 10, 1949, and were each other’s best friend for 61 years until Kenneth’s death in 2010.
 
Millie was a devoted member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many callings from Junior Sunday School Chorister to Stake Relief Society Counselor.
 
Millie excelled at homemaking skills such as sewing, canning, and cooking. She loved to plan and prepare delicious and healthy meals for her family.  Their well-being was always her first concern.
 
She is beloved by children Douglas (Susan), Susan Moon, Anne Heath (Melvin), and Karen Bedont (Paul), 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Millie is survived by sister Marilyn Edman and sister in law June Vancott.
 
A sincere thank you to Heirloom Inn in Price, Utah, for their tender and loving care for Mom the past four-and-a-half years.
 
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Lake Hills Mortuary, 10055 South State Street, Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be held from 2:30 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. that day.
