Mildred Alvey Burton

August 31, 1925 — January 1, 2018

Mildred Alvey Burton, age 92, passed away on January 1st of natural causes. She was born to Charles and Elizabeth Call on August 31, 1925. She grew up on a farm near Redwood Road. She was the eldest of 7 siblings: Charles Call (Linda), Thelma Allen (Bob), Carol Kinkle (Gilbert), Alice Grow (Moyer), Billy Call, and Shirl Kent (Kay). She married James O. Alvey in 1945, later deceased in 1965. She raised 5 children and had several nieces and nephews. Mildred was a member of the LDS church. She was a hard and dedicated worker. While living on Crystal Ave. she worked at IGA in the meat department, Lynn Wilson plant, Meals on Wheels and later retired in 1987 from the Salt Lake County Library. She married Cyril Burton in 1976. She lived in Riverton until Cyril’s death in 1996, then she moved to West Valley. In 2004 then moved to Syracuse. In the spring of 2017 she resided in Canyon Creek assisted living. Mildred had a kind spirit and her joy in life was making many children and families happy with all the receiving blankets and quilts she made throughout the years. She was an avid Utah Jazz fan and loved baseball. She was a great friend to many. She was a grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother to several. Surviving family members include: Sherry Kartchner, Jim (Marie) Alvey, Steve (Rita) Alvey, and Ronda (Steve) Beckstead. She is preceded in death by son, Reid Alvey.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 8, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Memorial Lake Hills Mortuary, 10055 South State Street, Sandy, UT. A viewing will be held prior beginning at 11:30 AM. Condolences at www.MemorialUtah.com.
