Mike (Mixali) Limantzakis

Mike (Mixali) Limantzakis (June 14, 1947 – October 21, 2021) Born in Vamos, Crete, Greece. Mike immigrated to the states, where he met Vera Kassapakis, his partner and wife of 45 years. Mike was loved and admired for his strong work ethic, resiliency, compassion, and loyalty to all who knew him. We will miss his lemon oregano roasted chicken and delicious salad dressing, but most of all his generosity, contagious laugh, and entertaining stories. Mike shared his exciting adventures with all who would listen. Starting with his travels with the Greek Navy, being stranded in Indonesia, and ultimately establishing himself in the United States. With the help of the Limantzakis family in Seattle, Mike began a new life in the Northwest around 1973. In 1975, Mike came to Salt Lake City where new adventures with business opportunities, friendships, and family would begin. Over the years, Mike enthusiastically and successfully pursued many businesses such as Mike’s Painting, The Athenian, The Olympic Flame, Smoke & News in Trolley Square, Jim’s Family Restaurant in Ogden, and his final endeavor of 26 years, The Greek Market & Deli. Mike was an active member of the Greek Orthodox Community and the Pan Cretan Association. You could always find him cooking in the kitchen for various events. Mike found new adventures when he retired in 2016, traveling in his motorhome with his wife by his side, and where he created his own little “Crete” in Bear Lake. Mike’s proudest achievements are his children George (Vasia), Anastasia, Anthony, and Grandchildren Stavroula, Paraskevoula, Mixali, his brother Leonidas, and his Koumbari and Godchildren. Mike is proceeded in death by his parents Georgios and Anastasia, brother Kyriakos, and Mother-in-Law Stella Kassapakis. Special thanks to all his family and friends, whom Mike was grateful to for their love, laughs, and encouragement. Mike’s presence will be missed dearly but his memory will be eternal.
A viewing will be held at Memorial Holladay~Cottonwood Mortuary 4670 S. Highland Drive, Holladay, UT 84117 on Monday, October 25, 2021 from 6:00 p.m – 8:00p.m. (Trisagion at 7:00pm).
The Funeral Service will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 12:00pm Interment to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations to Holy Trinity/Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church are encouraged.
