Michael Wayne Lister

February 17, 1960 — May 2, 2020

My husband Mike was such a wonderful and loving man, a man of God. I’m not sure I can really express just how much I will miss him, and know that others will as well.
Not only was he a wonderful husband, but a wonderful bonus dad, grandfather, best friend, colleague, man of God, Brother to his church family at the Rock … and so much more.
Mike’s ability to make everyone feel comfortable, secure, welcomed and loved was some of his greatest strengths.
It has been nearly 34 years since we were first married and I look back over those years with so much happiness, joy, some tears and much love.
Mike was the perfect gentleman—well-mannered and polite, but always quick with a witty remark. He was stern yet loving in dealings with the girls.
His good nature and Dutch oven cooking traits attracted people, not sure that all of the “dishes” were the best yet he tried, and no one complained. No one can forget his raucous and contagious laugh.
Michael Wayne Lister was born February 17, 1960 and raised in Rock Springs, Wyoming, the youngest son of Barbara Jean Good Lister and Wilbert (Chief) Clarence Lister and younger brother of Donald Lister (West Jordan), Robert Lister (Deceased), Bruce Lister (Little Rock) and Theresa Goss Lister (AZ).
He enlisted in the Army in 1978 where he spent two tours in Korea; he has an Honorable discharge from the military which took place in 1986.
Mike married the love of his life and soulmate Sandie in August of 1986, where he became bonus dad to two beautiful little girls that rounded out his life.  Mike leaves behind his wife Sandie, daughters, Tearie Faust (Chuck), Tiffany McMurray (Kevin), grandson Michael Lovell and Charlie Faust, granddaughter Catie Faust and youngest grandsons William McMurray and Matthew McMurray (deceased).
Mike taught the girls how to fish; oh what an adventure that was. He never got to put his rod and pole in the water that beautiful sunny day at Mirror Lake, the girls kept him too busy with their lines.  As they became teenagers, I saw how they always went to him for advice—even if they did run off and do the opposite, as teenagers do.
He was always there to pick up the pieces and sort things out.  They respected and loved him deeply.
Mike was a hardworking and giving man, he loved to Dutch oven cook, learned how to smoke meats, enjoyed entertaining, loved to go camping and just spend time with the family.  Not only was he committed to his job—working long hours as needed that would drive me insane—he was also committed to his girls and family, in addition to giving back to the church family as he could.
When Mike wasn’t at work—or being taxi driver for the kids—he would be attending church meetings, accountability group, helping out brothers in need, or home with Sandie which he loved to do the most.
He always encouraged us be involved in life—he brought out the best in us all, telling us that “you got this, you can do it, don’t give up on yourself”.
He was my soulmate, my best friend and my inspiration—my steadfast rock that helped me through thick and thin. Mike supported all of us even if it was a corny idea; he loved us all, and was always there to help navigate through life’s challenges.
Mike is in heaven now, he’s been greeted by God, his mother Barbara, Mother In Law Mava, Aunt Nona and his young grandson Matthew (Matty).
I know he is looking down at us with a big smile on his face saying, “Forge ahead—make the best of life—and I’ll see you soon.”
Goodbye Mike, my dear sweet husband, I am going to miss you more than you’ll know.
